About Tony and Gloria

"I do not WANT to dance. I HAVE to dance."

The Man: Tony went to his first dance class many years ago at the University of Calgary...with his mom! He didn't fall in love with dancing right away and almost quit many times. Like most men, he was awkward and self-concious and lacked any rhythm whatsoever. Yet, there was something about dancing that lured him back time after time. It was like falling in love without knowing it. This feeling of excitement, joy and anticipation was addictive and he was soon consumed by his passion for it.

The Lady: Gloria was dragged into her first dance class at the UBC Dance Club by her guy friends who wanted to meet girls. A few found their lady and stopped dancing, but it was Gloria who found her true love. She was smitten and inspired after watching her first dance competition. It was a fantasy world filled with beautiful people and beautiful dresses and she knew then that she wanted to be a part of it. She blossomed from being a shy girl into a confident woman who loves the spotlight. Now she is not only a part of this dance fantasy, it has become her reality and her life's passion.

The Couple: They met in March of 2007. Tony broke up with his partner a few months earlier and was looking for a fresh start. Gloria had been searching for a partner for over a year and had almost given up and was going to move to Toronto. As fate would have it, they were brought together for a try out at the Snowball Classic Dance Competition. Even though dancing together for the first time did not feel great, they both knew they had found a partner who was committed and hard working, but most importantly, loved to dance. Tony sold his business and moved to BC shortly after and Gloria decided to stay in Vancouver to try out this new partnership and see where it will lead them...

In the recent 2011 and 2012 Canadian Closed Championships, they made the finals and finished 3rd in the country. Among all their achievements, they are also ranked top 26 on the World DanceSport Federation (W.D.S.F.) world ranking list and 1st in Canada in Senior I. They compete around the world and train in Italy and Canada. They are training under world amateur and professional standard champions, Paolo Bosco and Silvia Pitton; and world professional 10 dance champions, Luca Bussoletti and Tjasa Vulic.  They are now available and qualified to teach because of their excellent placing. It is their dream to not only teach steps and technique, but also to inspire and share their passion with others.
